Process and Practice: Strategy-as-Practice Meets Entrepreneurship
Process and Practice: Strategy-as-Practice Meets Entrepreneurship
Saturday, Aug 11 2018 1:30PM - 4:30PM at Swissôtel Chicago in St. Gallen 1,2
Drawing on the experience of well-established scholars and the active participation of the audience, this Professional Development Workshop (PDW) aims at developing a joint research agenda connecting strategy-as-practice and entrepreneurship. This PDW offers an unprecedented opportunity to demonstrate SAP as a novel framework and methodology providing the basis to open up new avenues for research in the entrepreneurship field. The workshop consists of three parts: (1) presentations from Professors Dimo Dimov, Paula Jarzabkowski Richard Whittington and Eero Vaara as keynote speakers. The speakers will discuss why the two perspectives are compatible and will explain how scholars can benefit from connecting them in their research; (2) seven thematic round tables, each with two well- known scholars to represent SAP and entrepreneurship will animate the discussion around the theme and will help participants develop ideas for future research; and (3) a concluding discussion where participants and panelists will share the most promising avenues for bridging these two perspectives. Topics covered in the PDW include a broad scope of research questions that a practice lens can help answer, issues around the practicalities of data collection and the analysis of data using a practice lens. By collectively exploring entrepreneurship through a strategy-as-practice lens, the sharing of best practice and context specific knowledge, the PDW aims to foster knowledge sharing between SAP and entrepreneurship scholars building capacity and creating possibilities for future collaborations.
Part One is open. Part Two requires pre-registration due to limited capacity.
